One of the things that can make our lives stressful is living in a cluttered home or working on a cluttered office desk that will later send you scrambling for some things that you just can’t find. To help you start living a spacious and refreshing abode, start with having a simple guide to home organization and be free yourself from more stress at home.
- Start with small steps and start now. Before you are overwhelmed with what to do and where to start, start in small steps towards organizing your home. Start by organizing shoes first, or your set of bags, or clearing the counter top in the kitchen, or organizing the bathroom after a bath. However small it may be, it can contribute a lot to being organized day by day.
- Have a place for everything. Of course, one guide to home organization is to have a place for everything in the house. Storage spaces are very important in home organizing and even from the start, consider having storage places in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the living room, the kid’s rooms etc. If you have storage for all the things you intend to keep, it will be a lot easier to put everything in their proper places.
- Set your mood to really like home organizing. Finding a motivation to do the task is also an important part of organizing. Of course, your attitude towards it matters. If you think there is not much enough time to do it, then you have to overcome this thinking as it can lead to procrastination. One tip to set your motivation is to browse some home organization images or articles in magazines or the internet to help you jumpstart your organizing plans. By merely looking at how clean and how pleasing a well-kept and organized home is, you can find great ideas on how you can organize your living space too.

Perhaps it is because human nature tends toward hording and acquiring, or maybe we just feel more comfortable with Stuff. There are simple solutions to the storage dilemmas in our homes.
Sort, Share, & Scrap
This step involves sorting through your belongings, giving those unneeded but still usable items to friends or charity, and throwing away any trash or broken items. If you happen to have read some of my other articles on living in a small space, you may think that this is a familiar piece of advice. I can’t reiterate enough how vital it is to go through your belongings and purge. Most likely you will find that you were holding on to items that you no longer need, use or want. It certainly is much easier to organize and store a pared down collection. Sometimes the hardest part of sorting is getting started. It can be overwhelming to look at the whole job at once. Instead start with one room or even one section of one room first. You may find that as you get going it will become much easier. For instance, if you are tackling a kitchen, start with one cabinet at a time. It will give you mini goals that can be quickly accomplished motivating you even more.

The importance of effective and efficient closet organization cannot be understated. Closet organizers should be a fundamental part of home design. A great deal of new home construction includes closet organizer upgrades. As with any upgrade in new home construction, the cost of the upgrade through the builder wildly exceeds the cost of the actual upgrade.
Although, the convenience of rolling the cost of the upgrade into your mortgage is tempting it is inadvisable. It is best to put a few hundred dollars aside and commit to buying closet organizers after you take possession of your new home. The cost of buying the closet organization systems yourself will likely save you at least 50% of the cost.
A common question is “what should I look for in a good closet organizer design?” The answer to this question depends on a number of different factors. First you must consider the size of the closet. It is always best to buy a closet organizer that uses the entire space in your closet. You can add smaller organizers but adding a small organizer to a large closet will not make maximum use of the space.
It is also important to consider the types of items that will be stored in the closet. Unless it is a clothes closet you will never need a hanging bar. In fact, hangings bars should be included as part of your closet organizer on an as needed basis only. Hanging bars in closets are actually a very inefficient use of space. That sounds strange as most closets include a hanging bar. If you need a hanging bar then consider using a half width double hanging bar. Bars that are the entire width and most of the height of your closet are a terrible use of space.
